Sabudana Khichdi....any one..???

This was the token of appreciation from our chef, this morning he told me that I will make a special breakfast that belongs to your city. Ok I said come… let me see what you make, and it started ………..

Kya Dal Ne Ka……

2 cups sabudana or sago soaked for at least 6-7 hours (soak till the water just touches the top of the sabudana)
Two small potatoes boiled and cut into small pieces
½ cup roasted and coarsely pounded peanuts
For tempering:
Jeera, hing, green chilies, curry leaves
½ tsp sugar
½ tsp lemon juice
Finely chopped coriander for garnishingGrated coconut for garnishing.
Kise Banane Kaa.......
Take oil in a pan , when it is hot you can put jeera, hing , green chillies and curry leaves
Put the soaked sabudana in this mix and stir for sometime
The sabudana will turn from opaque to transparent.
Then you can add the remaining things like boiled potato, chopped coriander
Put sugar, salt and lemon juice
you can garnish this ready khichdi with freshly grated coconut.

A lovely dish it was, thanks to you chef....I think this is a typical maharashtrians item and is made by the marathi people almost every week and definitely on fasting days as it gives you all the required nutrition which one misses out due to the fast. Any way I am sure that my post can now severe like a “Complete Idiots Guide For Making Sabudana Khichdi”

The Beach

August is gone already!!! But once, I’m glad that time is flying by because..... :)
Ok here is the photo from the beach far and away the best thing we saw was a beautiful shooting star it lasted for a good five seconds and streaked from north to south covering nearly the entire night sky, was very nice and yes, I made a wish.

More times than I can count, we go to the beach, just minutes from our home, to walk along the shore. I like solitude and quiet so I can enjoy the sea! Listen to the waves breaking the shore,.. .walk in the warm waters, hunt for shells, smell the salty air, watching the gulls and pelicans fly overhead! It is one beautiful time.

Weekend yesterday, after a tough long week, as usual no alarms to buzz, got up late, but missed a couple of International calls. I was desperate for a haircut, so finally got time for it, I decided to give the new little Filipino shop less than a mile away a try so, and I hopped in. I walked in and asked for a haircut. They asked if I wanted a shampoo also and I said yes. That Filipino chap did a good job, though he was very talkative, I dint care.

Just remembered an incident some time back in India. One of my friend said, chal tera hair stle badal thee hai, he wanted to change my hair style and said that he new a good place where it can be done. Ok I said will go, lets try for a change, he took me to Lizi ka parlor in KP, a place where I had never been before. As we stepped in, the female on the reception gave a look as if, “come in and we are ready with scissors in hand to chop off” after a while we were called in, and I was led to a salon chair and sat down. A woman came over to me and draped two towels over me, one in front and the other in back. She then proceeded to wash my hair while I sat, upright, in the chair. She squirted a bit of water from a squeeze bottle, then added a bit of shampoo and rubbed it in to my hair. She continued to do this until my whole head of hair was lathered. Much to my surprise, not one drop of water spilled off of my head. She then led me over to the sink where I reclined and she rinsed my hair.
Then came the stylist, she led me back to the chair where she told me my hair is dry and a special treatment should be done for it. Next, the stylist confirmed that I wanted a cut and that I wanted a new style, trimming etc. she said no problem. While she cut, which she did in an angled cutting technique I was not familiar with, she fixed some strange looking pins in my hair, one in front others on side and back, it was like partitioning my hair in four different sides, and I had to flow the instructions of turning my head as and when she liked, it was like how people follow the instructions of yoga from Baba Ramdev.
After a bit of confusion over what exactly was happening, I saw my friend sitting back on the sofa and staring to the proceedings that were going on, as if he was taking some course for that, and I am a live practical for it. I sad to him, kya dekh raha hi bee... The stylist finished all the cutting and all, removed all the hardware material like pins and all that was fixed and then dried my hair. I think some styling products were used and the hair wash was some shampoo and conditioner.
The end result was ok, if not perfect, anyways after all that I was given a book to write my details so that those people would give a follow up, I wrote down all false information and ph number. Then back to the reception for the payment, I asked how much, she said 350 rs. I was like… wtf .. It was good that I had enough cash in my pockets, otherwise who knows, as in hotels if you don’t pay the bill you have wash dishes, so in this setup we would have being washing others hairs. Just paid it, came out of the parlor and gave my friend a big GPL.
