Meghna Mathur - Racist

Well saw Fashion, another typical Madhur Bhandarkar film. According to me Meghna Mathur played by P Chopra was a racist character. I don’t know how many agree to it. I'm not trashing this film, but after seeing this film I was left with the sense of it have a racial undertone.
The scene goes this way, one night; Meghna visits a disco, takes drug then gets turned on by dancing with an African stranger and wakes up the next morning in the hotel room. She looks at the sleeping man next to her, and she is like.. what I have done, She has given in to a night of lust with an African, she doesn’t look at the man’s face, just his naked black back across the bed sheets. Now what if it was a white man… then ..?
She is horrified, gathers her clothes and creeps downstairs and into an auto rickshaw. When she gets home she desperately wipes her face with tissue after tissue, in an attempt to erase the night of raw passion. There are two ways of looking at this scene. First of all you could look at it as an expression of guilt. But considering that Meghna has already made compromises, this seems unlikely. Where was the guilt when she was sleeping around with others..?

Anyway what was the need to portray that anonymous guy as black... could have put an Indian guy instead. But with Indian... that would become a story...I hope u got what I said. I felt that Kangana was superb. Sure she has done (bewdi) roles like this before, but she owns the screen in this one. If she does not get any award for this role, the industry is blind.

Sorry Ranaji…!!

Morning with a cup of tea in front of my good friend…yes the TV, what comes next is an old remix song on B4U music.
“Chhat Pe Soya Tha Bahanoi Main Tanne Samajh Kar So Gayi,
mujhako Raana Ji Maaf Karana Galati Mhaare Se Ho Gayi "

English translation, for the benefit of my overseas readers, yes I have some from Tanzania & Uganda too
Brother in law was sleeping on rooftop; I thought it was you (husband or whatever) and slept on you or beside you (not specified), Therefore Ranaji.. I am sorry I have done a mistake.

Now some one can tell me… Is she really apologizing for the mistake or is she enjoying it ??? Here is the simple saga of mistaken identity, all solved when she just says pardon me, it was just an error. Instead the entire song of apology is presented in such a good way, I can term it as Redefining Apology. This shows that telling sorry is an art. I liked the presentation of that model Mink, she did a better job compared to Mamta Kulkarni in the original one. In fact Mamta dint even know how to commit a mistake like that, forget about the way of apologizing. Speaking about songs I like few of them, seen in trailers now a days , one from Sing is king – Teri ore and one from Jaane tu ya jaane na - Jaane tu mera kya hai, then the red line goes like this.. So when do you know its love … what a good question.

Ok so where were we, about Ranaji…… Mink.. you can be forgiven even for a murder…

Welcome to Africa..JAMBO..

And so we start! Yes, this is the very first entry in this blog for 2008. I don't plan to change the world with this blog... but maybe it will give you a small glimpse into life here in, East Africa. Posting few pictures of Kenya, Tanzania & Zanzibar.

Just get in a car and drive across town! And see the glory... Oh, it's all over the place. Smiles on so many faces, laughter as I pass roadside shops. Beautiful amazing random artwork on ceramic pots for sale along Ngong Road. Flowers on almost every plant, year around, so you should come to Africa. Not just to visit - but to live. Then you can really see what life is like. Very good climate all twelve months, between 20 to 30 degree & mangoes to eat throughout the year.

I'm really excited about ICT development here. Maybe I'm naive, but I think the undersea cables are going to revolutionize business and development initiatives in the region. It just takes some creative thinking, planning and initiative. None of that is really lacking. But I'm concerned at people who assume the African markets deserve dumped down products. The demand is there. Where's the product? I'm sure it's coming.

Kenya's most well-known ethnic tribe, the Maasai (or Masai) are semi-nomadic people located primarily in Kenya and northern Tanzania. This is one the best expressions of faith I have ever come across. They are considered to be part of the Nilotic family of African tribal groups, just as the Scilluk from Sudan and the Acholi from Uganda.

No more McD’s

I'm putting my foot down on this decision; I think I will be boycotting McDonald's....
I'm not a big fan of fast food restaurants but just like sometimes when hunger strikes I am forced to grab a bite at Burger King or McD's, etc....., last night after office I was at McD's, I didn't feel like having BK cause it's too heavy, I decided to go for McD's combo no. 4 (two cheese burgers, fries and a coke), so I take my order to the table but damn ... I forgot to get some mayonnaise, so I go back for some mayonnaise.

Me: can I get some mayonnaise, please.
Employee: 50 fils.
Me: HUH??.. what the fuck…
Employee: 50 fils, sir.
Me: for what, mayonnaise????
Employee: yes sir.

I was so frustrated I just took my 2 packs of mayo tossed 100 fils on the counter and left, it's never about the money, it's the concept.. you're charging me 50 fils for mayo now, what will come next? The Ketchup ??
I bet if they increased their prices to include the mayo, it wouldn't have bothered me, but to bluntly charge extra for mayonnaise..... that's not good . Comparatively this Turkish oven and the Pars guys are ok, they don’t mind if you empty the full bottle.

Quote of the day

"I'm NOT loving' it....hhaa hahaa "

Well the pic above is Sheer Khurma, This is a traditional dessert served at Eid time. Enriched with almonds, pistachios, roasted vermicelli dried dates etc, It is good served cold or warm. This was prepared in a joint effort including me ..hhhaaaaa..No really avinash ke kasam. So now that I have taken kk’s swear u guys have to believe me. The effort paid off and the end result was..hhhhhmmm... tasted good.
May the New Year warm our hearts just as a glowing candle brightens up a dark room. 2006 has definitely decorated and added many memorable experiences into my life, and it's indeed a radical blessing to be able to bask in the competent glory of this meaningful year, we look ahead with the utmost hope that this year will be just as good as last one, if not better, as we also harbor in our hearts the HOPE OF A BETTER AGE. May we have a happy, safe, exciting, interesting, and meaningful 2007 ! (Though I can never forget the glorious days of 2006 AD :p ) Till next time, it's me signing off.. Bye.. TC

Sabudana Khichdi....any one..???

This was the token of appreciation from our chef, this morning he told me that I will make a special breakfast that belongs to your city. Ok I said come… let me see what you make, and it started ………..

Kya Dal Ne Ka……

2 cups sabudana or sago soaked for at least 6-7 hours (soak till the water just touches the top of the sabudana)
Two small potatoes boiled and cut into small pieces
½ cup roasted and coarsely pounded peanuts
For tempering:
Jeera, hing, green chilies, curry leaves
½ tsp sugar
½ tsp lemon juice
Finely chopped coriander for garnishingGrated coconut for garnishing.
Kise Banane Kaa.......
Take oil in a pan , when it is hot you can put jeera, hing , green chillies and curry leaves
Put the soaked sabudana in this mix and stir for sometime
The sabudana will turn from opaque to transparent.
Then you can add the remaining things like boiled potato, chopped coriander
Put sugar, salt and lemon juice
you can garnish this ready khichdi with freshly grated coconut.

A lovely dish it was, thanks to you chef....I think this is a typical maharashtrians item and is made by the marathi people almost every week and definitely on fasting days as it gives you all the required nutrition which one misses out due to the fast. Any way I am sure that my post can now severe like a “Complete Idiots Guide For Making Sabudana Khichdi”

Today morning I saw some 4 message windows on my pc one of them had “ are you already in pune”.. lol , no man not yet and yaa… sorry dinesh, I saw your message on skype today morning, I am not getting any time even to pack my bags, days a going like shit busy man, have to complete lost of things still.. Inshalaa hope to see you soon.
